First of all, let’s take a closer look on the name Antinori and Antinori family. The Antinori family stands as an indomitable force in the realm of winemaking: their legacy spanning an impressive 26 generations. With roots deeply entrenched in the fertile soils of Tuscany, the Antinoris have been pioneers in the art of viticulture since 1385, navigating through tumultuous historical epochs with unwavering dedication to their craft. Their historic wineries, such as the illustrious Antinori in Chianti Classico, serve as living testaments to their enduring commitment to quality and innovation. The family has several wonderful wineries across Tuscany and Umbria.

I tasted three Antinori red wines:

“La vigna sul tetto”, Chianti Classico Riserva, San Giovese, Antinori in Chianti (it is made with the vineyard on the roof of the winery).
“Cont’Ugo”, Bolgheri D.O.C., Tenuta Guado al Tasso Antinori. Exclusively Merlot grapes to interpret the Bolgheri area from a new perspective. The vineyards, located at an altitude between 45 and 60 meters above sea level. on silty-clayey soils of predominantly alluvial origin, give Cont’Ugo great depth and complexity while preserving the fragrance and exuberance of the fruit typical of Merlot.
“Bramasole”, Syrah, La Braccesca. From the sunniest slice of vineyard, from the innovative spirit of the Antinori family, from one of the areas of Cortona most suited to the cultivation of quality Syrah, Bramasole is born, a wine capable of evolving over time and telling, according to a new variety, a territory with ancient winemaking tradition. The first produced vintage of Bramasole was 2000.
